Letters of Support for Pool Planning from Community Organizations

Letters from Individuals

Your Letter of Support for Pools

Letters of from individuals and organizations demonstrate the broad community support for pools that we all know exists.

Right now, it is most important to encourage the City Council to fund a Comprehensive Aquatics Plan (CAP) via the biannual City Budget.  Funding this type of planning study is an essential step towards renovation and/or construction of public pools.  Your letters are key to gaining Council support.

Please send your letters of support for funding the CAP to each member of the City Council individually.  Sending each email separately is more impactful than sending a single email to all Councilmembers at once.

The Seattle City Council address is:  PO Box 34025, Seattle, WA 98124-4025

What would the Comprehensive Aquatics Plan (CAP) cover?

The CAP would answer fundamental questions such as:  How should the City fund long-term maintenance of pool facilities? Which current facilities need renovation and how much will those renovations cost? What should new facilities look like and where should they be located? What programs are required to meet the needs of Seattle’s citizens?  And how should all of these needs be prioritized? Community input gathered from a series of public meetings would contribute to the final CAP recommendations.

Tips

It also helps to thank our city leaders for all the good things our Parks Department provides today and describe how important these services are to you.  Tell them what it means to you and your family to have good access to pools.  Describe the aquatics facilities and programs you dream to see in your community and throughout our lovely city.  Tell them you want to help make these dreams real.  You can find information supporting the case for pools here.
