Happy New Year, Public Pool Supporters!

Project Seattle Pools will hold its first meeting of 2009 at the Columbia Branch Library on Wednesday, February 11th from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

We’ll discuss the following:

How pools fared in the 2008 budget cycle.
Funding options for the Comprehensive Aquatics Plan & next steps.
Applying for a Neighborhood Matching Fund (NMF) Grant.

Pools provide healthy opportunities for all ages and all abilities. It's time for Seattle to match peer cities in providing modern, public pool facilities. Our city has built only one pool in 30 years. We provide only 1.7 pools/100,000 citizens, far below the national average of 3.0 pools/100,000 residents for large U.S. cities (Trust for Public Lands, 2006).
